Cameos
and smokes are renowned for
their coats of contrasts and come in a variety of colours. They
have a white undercoat and a degree of tipping dependent on
whether they are tipped, shaded or smoke.
The tipped cameo has the effect of just a dusting of
colour on top of the white undercoat. The shaded cameo has more
colour and the smoke exhibits the most colour.
Cat
showing and breeding has been a hobby of mine for the past
twenty years. My show successes have included Grand Champion
Honeygem Vanilla Ripple, a cream shaded cameo and Grand Champion
& Grand Premier Honeygem Silver Lining, a blue smoke boy.
I breed from PKD negative cats and in order to expand my
breeding programme I imported Pele Mele’s Silver Ice Bon Bon,
a red shaded cameo, from
Germany
. This boy soon become a Champion, he has the most wonderful
temperament and lives indoors with us, much to the delight of
friends and visitors. Champion Barrkudos Glowingember is also a
red shaded cameo stud boy and although a little older than Bon
Bon still produces lovely kittens. Our kittens are born and
reared indoors where they become acclimatised to everyday
situations and noises.
Situated to the west of
Cardiff
in the Vale of Glamorgan, I have a small purpose built cattery
next to the house. The cattery is heated and provides a safe
environment for my retired and neutered cats. A fully enclosed
garden provides them with outdoor space.
